Rebecca Speirs joins the board at Spectrum

We are delighted to announce that Rebecca Speirs, now Operations Director at Spectrum, has recently joined the company’s board.

Rebecca has been with the businesses for over 10 years now, starting at the young age of 17. She has been through a variety of roles in her time, beginning as a cleaner who regularly worked at Hampden, who are still one of our clients. Rebecca’s work ethic and commitment led to her progressing onto a Team Supervisor role, managing a team of up to 50 staff in the contract cleaning side of the business. Alongside working at Spectrum, Rebecca studied Management with Marketing at The University of Strathclyde. Although adamant she wanted a career in marketing, Rebecca truly excelled in her events work with Spectrum and it became apparent that organisation and management were her forte. Specifically, her meticulous planning and attention to detail were two key attributes that particularly served her role within Spectrum well.

Following graduation, Rebecca progressed on to Graduate Trainee Manager within Spectrum, giving her operational management experience. This led her to moving onto the role of Games 2012 Operations Manager, allowing Rebecca to gain experience of working on a large-scale event project and expand her skill set considerably. Upon completion of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Rebecca continued as the Regional Operations Manager. This role involved managing key accounts and senior clients, furthering her breadth of knowledge within the facilities management industry and developing her skill set. The role also encompassed events management work, giving Rebecca the chance to work on managing events including concerts at Hampden Park, The Ryder Cup, 6 venues at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games,  and a prestigious tennis event in Edinburgh.

In May 2016, Rebecca then progressed onto the role of Head of Operations. Directly responsible for leading and managing all Regional and Area Managers, the role also involves managing a number of key accounts across Scotland. Alongside this, Rebecca is responsible for all Event Management projects which include working with clients at European Tour, IMG, Hampden Park, Hearts of Midlothian and now the European Championships.

Rebecca truly enjoys creating long term relationships with clients, some of which she has worked with since starting with the business. Her experience and skill set suit her role perfectly and we are confident Rebecca will continue to excel in joining the board at Spectrum.

We are delighted to welcome Rebecca into her new role as Operations Director, where she will join Managing Director Sara Speirs and Financial Controller Judith Dinning on the Board. We are proud to have an all-female board, and believe Rebecca is the perfect fit. At University, her dissertation focussed on women in senior roles, and this has always been a long-term goal of hers, taking inspiration from not only her Mum, but numerous other inspirational women she met through her time at University and in her career.

Rebecca is excited to take on this new challenge, and we hope you will join us in wishing her the very best for the future!
