Spectrum win contract for 2014 Ryder Cup

We are delighted to announce we have won the contract for the cleaning and waste management for the 2014 Ryder Cup, taking place at Gleneagles later this month.

The Ryder Cup is the most prestigious team event in the golfing world and is watched by a global audience in the billions every two years. Thousands of spectators will attend the competition everyday and many more will enjoy the various hospitality centres that have been erected around the PGA course. It will be our task to keep them clean and to manage the waste during the practice and competition days.

Here’s what Antonia Beggs, Operations Director, Ryder Cup Europe had to say about the important role Spectrum will play; “With The 2014 Ryder Cup showcasing Gleneagles and Perthshire to the world, it is imperative that we ensure the area is kept clean and presented as its stunning best. The appointment of Spectrum Service Solutions and William Tracey Group, as Scottish firms with a great track record of resource efficiency and major sporting events is perfectly aligned with our own corporate responsibility and sustainability ethos. We are particularly pleased by their support to deliver a Zero Waste to landfill event.”

It’s been a busy time for us. Working at events like Robbie Williams, Take That, Bon Jovi and BBC at the Quay, not to mention all of the Scotland Team matches and Cup Finals at Hampden Park. And in golf, we have already fulfilled a similar role at this year’s Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen. So, we know what to expect, although the eyes or the world will be much more focussed on Gleneagles later this month!

This most recent win highlights our aspirations to become Scotland’s best cleaning company, and being able to add events such as the London 2012 Olympics and the Ryder cup to our C.V. is a testament to the excellent work we do in the event sector. It is an area where we’ve truly excelled in recent years because we meet the various challenges encountered when hosting extremely large scale events over a limited period of time.

Understandably, our Managing Director, Sara Speirs is particularly happy with this contract win, here’s what she has to say to the Press about the Ryder Cup contract. “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract. It is a major event in the world’s sporting calendar and it signals the realisation of our aim to become Scotland’s premier event cleaning company. We are already established in many other sectors for contract cleaning, facilities management and specialist cleaning, and management of waste, however this latest win highlights our versatility and understanding of all the markets we operate in.

Preparations have already begun to make sure that everything runs smoothly for the world’s most famous team golf tournament, and we can’t wait!
