Spring is in the air.  The temperature is rising; the days are getting longer, and we’re excited to be planning events again.  While some may not be as we knew them a year ago, the very fact that we are involved in planning meetings and preparations for a Summer of events is very welcome indeed.

This week, our events team members are at Hampden Park to prepare for Scotland’s World Cup Qualifier when they take on Austria on Wednesday evening.  They’re back again next week to prepare the stadium for the match against the Faroe Islands.  We wish the team well in these matches and the game in Isreal on Sunday.

Even though the Tartan Army can’t be present, there is a great deal to be done to ensure the venue is safe for all of the players, coaches, management, officials, technicians and members of the Press.

We will also be at Hampden Park for the Scottish Cup Semi-Finals and Final in May. Hopefully, we’ll also provide our services at the four UEFA Euro 202o fixtures currently scheduled to take place at Hampden in June 2021.

It’s not all about football; we are already preparing for a busy golf season. Amongst others, we’ll be working at the AIG Women’s Open at Carnoustie, and the 149th Open Championship at Royal St George’s, Sandwich, Kent.

We will, of course, bring you more news about all our events throughout the year, but you can appreciate why we are excited to be talking about events again.

You’d also be wrong to assume that our Events Team have been relaxing over the past few months.  We are delighted we were able to deploy then to help deal with critical special projects like the preparation and ongoing cleaning at a new vaccination centre in Bathgate, within the Pyramids Business Park.

They have also proved to be a welcome and valuable resource in helping us roll out Flexi-Clean.  This unique service offers month-to-month cleaning contracts allowing clients to have the flexibility and ease of a short-term cleaning contract with the professionalism and security you’d expect from a leading facilities management company.  Having experienced personnel available for Flexi-Clean has enabled us to provide the exceptional flexibility levels that clients need as workplaces reopen and hopefully get back to normal.

So, one year on, we are optimistic.  We are starting to see things moving in the right direction, and we are delighted to be talking about major events.  For Spectrum, that is a positive result; let’s hope for more each time our national team takes to the field over the coming week!
