The answer to this week’s burning question is – No Robbie Williams didn’t get to meet us!
Last week we were back at Scotland’s National Stadium. Following on from ‘The Boss‘ last week, we had the ‘King of Pop’ and self proclaimed cheeky chappy, Robbie Williams and his support act, Olly Murs,
Both nights were a sell out and over 100,000 fans let Robbie entertain them in his own special way – he certainly does know how to woo a crowd. Whilst the crowds on both nights left happy, they also left a mess and Spectrum once again cleaned it up. Now we can truly say we cleaned up Robbie’s act!
When a concert of this size runs on consecutive nights it does provide an additional challenge; we have to wait until the stadium has cleared then we have to make it perfect for the next show – can you imagine how many plastic cups are left behind?
There are some benefits to this type of work; we get to see the phenomenal effort by literally hundreds of roadies that goes into every performance – the show would certainly not go on without them and we like to think we play our own part in making the event a success.
Our team have to work quickly and efficiently in conjunction with all of the other specialist suppliers to ensure the stadium is clean and safe for the next concert.
Another perk of the job is that we get to see behind the scenes of many brilliant acts around the country. From football matches including the UEFA Cup Final and the 2012 Olympic Games, as well as music concerts such as Take That, U2 and Pink to name but a few.
The ultimate perk would have been getting to meet Robbie himself. unfortunately on this occasion it didn’t happen but, he didn’t get to meet us either!
To give you an idea of how massive the crowd was and the scale of our clean up job – take a look at this video below.
