Over recent weeks, the Spectrum Events Team has been exceptionally busy. We’ve cleaned up after Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris, Liam Gallagher and Green Day, worked at the Summer Sessions in Dundee, and just finished a week in North Berwick at the Genesis Scottish Open. But, this is the big one – The 150th Open Championship at St Andrews.
There’s something extraordinary about this week. Press coverage, public anticipation and a gathering of the best golfers on the planet to compete in The Open Championship are typically enough to whet the appetite. Still, this year it’s historical, the 150th Open, at the home of golf and Spectrum is playing its part.
Months of planning are now behind us, and the feeling of excitement is palpable today. We are working on what is undoubtedly one of the most significant global sporting events in 2022. And one of the most significant Open Championships in the last 50 years. We are privileged to be here and playing our part in keeping the venue clean and safe as the eyes of the world focus on this magical part of the Fife coastline.
Our team has been briefed, and everyone knows what is expected of them. We’ve even drafted some additional cleaning help in the form of aptly named vacuum cleaners – Tiger, Colin and Shane. Will one of them clean up on the course this week?
Speaking from St Andrews, Rebecca Bell, Operations Director at Spectrum, commented: “It’s great to be here at The Open finally. After many months of planning and team briefings, there was a genuine feeling of anticipation about this week. But, the excitement is much greater than any of us expected. Millions worldwide will watch this event, and the magic of a historical Open at St Andrews has heightened the atmosphere for all of the team.
“We are incredibly grateful to the R&A for the opportunity to be involved with the 150th Open Championship.”
“We are looking forward to many hours of hard work, but we are ready, and hopefully, there will be some fun along the way.”
Watch our social channels this week to keep up to date with the Spectrum Events Team; we’re on course for a great week, and we hope you enjoy what promises an incredible Open Championship.
