We’re back in St Andrews for Golf…and Music!

Two of the primary types of events we cover are golf and music, but next week, we’re covering both at one event – the AIG Women’s Open.

This year, the top women golfers in the world will gather at the home of golf, St Andrews, to test themselves on the Old Course, probably the most famous links on the planet. For Spectrum, working at St Andrews brings back great memories of the fantastic 150th Open Championship in 2022 when Cameron Smith prevailed. This year, it’s the turn of the women to take on the many challenges of St Andrews, like Hell Bunker and the renowned Road Hole.

However, as well as hosting one of the most anticipated golf events in this year’s women’s calendar, the R&A are also hosting a concert for the players, officials, volunteers, and fans, something they did very successfully last year at Walton Heath when Ellie Goulding wooed the vast golfing audience.

This year, the entertainment will be provided by Tom Grennan, who will take to the stage after the wonderful Fleur East has given her supporting performance. The R&A are to be congratulated on hosting a concert and for the high-quality stars they have lined up.

Spectrum will provide a range of services at St Andrews; we are cleaning in the public villages, sponsor and partner’s structures, hospitality areas, and the areas set aside for players, contractors, officials and technical personnel. And, of course, at the concert area where Fleur and Tom will be entertaining what is anticipated to be a large crowd of golf and music fans.

We will be responsible for general cleaning, hospitality cleaning, litter picking, window cleaning, hygiene services, and replenishing consumables, and in partnership with the R&A and Hey Girls we will provide free sanitary products during the event.

Spectrum’s Operations Director, Rebecca Bell, said about the event: “It’s great to be back in St Andrews where we have worked extensively in the past at events like The 150th Open and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, so the team have lots of fond memories created right here at the home of golf. The AIG Women’s Open is yet another very high-profile global event for the Spectrum team; it’s certainly up there as one of the biggest events in women’s sports.

“Once again, we are able to bring the benefit of our experience at music events, of which there have been many this year. We will provide our services at the Tom Grennan concert, which is an exciting part of the event. It’s encouraging to be part of these women’s events that, thanks to the innovative approach of the R&A, are attracting more and more fans and raising golf’s appeal to a wide audience.”

Below, we have included some images taken this week to show a little of what goes on behind the scenes ahead of a major championship.
