Those of you who follow our blog will know we work in a wide variety of buildings throughout Scotland. As you would expect, every building is different, but we don’t just mean in an architectural sense; each of them has it’s own character which is formed by the people who use it, and by the purpose for which it is used.
It’s fascinating to go from building to building and experience the diversity of uses, but also subtle differences in the way that the workforces interact and communicate. Some are ‘Google like’, with lots of space devoted to chilling out and relaxation, others are extremely utilitarian; but strangely, all of them appear to be very productive.
You perhaps don’t get the same opportunity as Spectrum staff do to experience a variety of workplaces, so we thought it would be good to feature some of the buildings in which we work in some of our future blog posts.
In the interests of security and privacy, we can’t talk about them all, but we can give you an insight into many of them; today we’re starting with Hillington Park Innovation Centre.
Hillington Park Innovation Centre
Established in 2000, Hillington Park Innovation Centre is celebrating it’s 15th anniversary this year, though looking at the building it’s hard to believe it’s been part of the Hillington landscape for so long.
It is perhaps one of the UK’s best examples of a business incubation facility, in fact it was first in the UK to attain the industries highest accreditation from UKBI for best practice.
It is a bright and spacious building that always greets you with an air of friendliness. Perhaps it’s to do with the occupants; all of them in the early stages of business development, each of them supporting one another as they grow. The atmosphere in the building is certainly positive, and infectious.
Almost 200 companies have been located in the building during the last 14 years; 145 of which have outgrown the support that can be offered by the centre and have ‘graduated’ to new locations.
Businesses enjoy state-of-the-art facilities and a high level of on-the-spot support from the expert Innovations Centres Scotland team. Moreover, the networking opportunities and the chance to work alongside like minded individuals encourages growth and innovation.
Spectrum Service Solutions is delighted to be part of such a great success story. It’s a pleasure to see so many thriving businesses under one roof.
We like to think we play our part; as you might expect, it is an extremely busy building. It is therefore essential that the building is kept clean at all times, and that it is perfectly presented for every employee, and for each and every visitor – of which there are many.
