This Sunday the flagship Kiltwalk event kicks off in Glasgow. We are delighted to announce that we have won the contract for the cleaning and waste management along the route.
The Full Walk covers a 26 mile route from the heart of Glasgow at Hampden, a venue with which we are very familiar. The route then follows the Clyde to Loch Lomond. All Kiltwalkers are encouraged to dress in tartan and embrace a day of fun and banter while raising money. More walkers join the route closer to the end point for the 13 mile ‘Half Walk’, and then the 6 mile ‘Wee Walk’.
This year the army of volunteers, known as Kilties, will assist the walkers as they move between the sponsored Pit Stops along the route. The sponsors will keep spirits high and encourage the party atmosphere, but their real purpose is to provide much needed sustenance for the tiring walkers as they approach the finish in Balloch. Naturally, that means some tidying up behind them!
This weekend, members of the Spectrum Events Team will be undertaking the challenge of keeping a tidy route for walkers from early on Sunday morning. We will be maintaining the route throughout the day and cleaning up at all of the Pit Stops after all the participants have passed through.
Spectrum Service Solutions is excited to be playing a part on the day. We would also like to wish all of the Kiltwalkers luck for the day.
Since it began in 2011 the Kiltwalk has become one of Scotland’s fastest growing charity events. This year more walkers than ever are expected on walks taking place across Scotland. In Glasgow the organisers expect as many as 10,000 walkers, with many more joining in the finishing line party at Balloch. They are hoping to raise £2 million+ for charities around Scotland.
If you are taking part the Kiltwalk, please share some images with us on the Facebook Page or via Twitter. Please also say hello to any members of the Events Team you see along the way – we really are a friendly bunch!
