Small things make a big difference, even at global events

July has been one of our busiest months in the previous 18 months. Offices, manufacturing plants, laboratories, storage facilities, and retail environments are all returning to routine working procedures, which means our staff are busy.

Understandably, most clients have revised procedures, and throughout the pandemic, we’ve been working closely with them to ensure the safety of their staff as they return to regular business. So, we are busy, but over the last two weeks were especially so because, once again, we were working at The Open Championship.

It was a magnificent week in Kent, and the course at Royal St George’s provided the test that the world’s leading golfers expect in the most famous major of them all. Congratulations to Collin Morikawa, who prevailed as the ‘Champion Golfer of the Year’.

However, we also had a few champions emerge during the week. We want to thank every member of the Spectrum Events Team working at Royal St George’s, each of you played an enormous part in making our contribution a massive success. It’s particularly pleasing when the patrons take time to acknowledge the work we do.

One such example came from a very kind lady who truly appreciated the efforts of our team. Contract Manager Craig Lorimer received the following email about her experience while attending corporate hospitality last week.

“I just wanted to pass on my thanks again to you and your staff for keeping the ladies toilets so lovely and clean today at Royal St George’s

“I have a medical condition, so I was very pleased to see so many ladies toilets in so many locations that I didn’t have to queue to use.

“They were all spotlessly clean. I try not to let my condition impact my quality of life or activities but can get quite anxious when visiting large events. Today it was so lovely to use a toilet whenever I needed to and find them so clean.”

Our team of around 200 were kept exceedingly busy all week, but everyone did their jobs diligently and in good spirits. We are proud to be involved with global events like The Open. We look forward to continuing the relationship when this great competition returns to the home of golf to celebrate the 150th Open at St Andrews next year.

Below are some of images taken around the course last week; we hope you enjoy this look behind the scenes at The Open.
