It’s been a busy time for the events team over the last few days at the Royal Highland Showgrounds in Edinburgh. We’re right in the middle of the DF Concerts Edinburgh Summer Sessions, which this year has featured an incredible lineup of concerts.
Scottish legends Biffy Clyro kicked the sessions off on Friday night, playing to a full house of very appreciative fans. Then, it was a quick turnaround for the Spectrum team in preparation for the Heather On The Hill Festival on Saturday. This was a brand-new, family-focused one-day festival created by Nathan Evans & The Saint Phnx Band for all the family, with a lively mix of music and all-day entertainment for audiences aged 5 and over.
Then, another quick turnaround before welcoming the fans of The Cure for a sell-out concert on Sunday evening. Last night was the turn of Florence and the Machine, another fantastic night, and some great weather.
The team are back at the Royal Highland Showground already this morning, preparing the venue for tonight’s concert with Lorde. We then have a day to prepare for the final concert in the Edinburgh Summer Sessions when Deftones take to the stage on Thursday evening.
As you can imagine, providing cleaning for back-to-back concerts requires a great deal of planning, especially when different artists are performing each night; we not only have to prepare all of the public areas of the venue, but we also need to work with the roadies and technicians to ensure they have the access they need during the build-up and strip-out periods.
It’s extremely hard work, but fortunately, we’re never short of team members for these events; it seems our Spectrum staff are music lovers too!

Midway through the week, you start to appreciate how all the planning makes it possible to deliver these multiple mass-audience events. Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure the venue was well-prepared for each concert; my thanks go to all of them who have once again delivered the level of service our clients have come to expect.”
