It will be a busy weekend for football fans; it’s the Scottish Cup semi-finals when four teams compete for a place in the final. Interestingly, we already know it will be a Glasgow vs Edinburgh final because the semis see Hearts playing Hibs and Rangers playing Celtic.
The Spectrum events team will prepare Hampden Park Stadium for the semi-finals and the final, but this weekend will be the busier. Semis weekend is a different ball game because we have two major games on consecutive days. We have to work hard right from the final whistle on Saturday to get the stadium ready to receive the old-firm supporters, players, officials and the Press by kick-off at 2pm on Sunday.
Quick turnarounds are not new to us at Hampden. During our long association with Hampden Park, we have worked at semi-finals, and we have worked at major concerts where there are two, three or even four consecutive nights, so we know the task ahead, and we’re well prepared to make sure the stadium is clean and safe on both days.
We love being part of these events and getting to be among the supporters from all sides who provide a very colourful picture as they don their club’s colours to follow their teams passionately.
We wish all four teams best wishes for the weekend; we are certainly looking forward to the games and the excitement evident at every semi-final.
