Schools might be out but we’re not!

In this blog post we hear from Regional Operations Manager, Rebecca Spiers, on what’s been happening here at Spectrum Service Solutions over the summer months.

While everyone has been winding down, the kids have stopped for summer and people are getting ready for their summer holidays, it has been the total opposite at Spectrum HQ.

The summer signals the busy concert period for us and this year has been no different.

What a whirlwind the last 4 weeks have been with not only 3 different megastars rockin’ Hampden Park but also the amazing opportunity to work at the inaugural event, Brodies Champions of Tennis in Edinburgh.

As well as this, we welcomed a new addition to our Management Team in the form of our new Regional Operations Manager, Joanne Burke. By working as a team and drawing on Joanne’s vast experience of Stadia we managed to make things a lot slicker.

The difference this year was also that we had a mini recruitment drive, this saw us interviewing over 100 local applicants for temporary work over the events, training these staff within the Stadium and providing summer employment. This was an excellent and worthwhile process allowing us to meet some great candidates, some of which have now gained permanent positions within the company. Thanks to all of those who got involved!

Don’t be fooled though, all will not come to a standstill, over the month of July we have some new contracts starting within the Renfrewshire area and for us this time of year signifies time to start planning the deep clean schedules of the schools we work with so watch this space!

Below is a photo of a school floor before we took over the site. As you can see, it was being previously poorly maintained.




Here is the after shot – the team at Spectrum completely turned it around. What a difference a deep clean makes! The floor is sparking, it’s so clean!
