It’s been a busy week so far for the Spectrum events team, we’ve been preparing for the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open. It’s great to be back at Castle Stuart just outside Inverness, it was the venue for the first Scottish Open for Spectrum back in 2013.
Like the strong filed of competitors, we’ve spent the first part of the week doing our preparations; whilst Mickelson, Monty and Lyle have been fine tuning their swings and perfecting their putting, we’ve been putting the finishing touches to the many areas we’re responsible for during the competition. Over and above the vast open areas on the course, we also provide cleaning and waste management services for all other public areas; this includes, public catering, merchandising, corporate hospitality suites, VIP areas, official and technical areas and BOH operational areas.
As you can imagine, large crowds spread across many acres of the Inverness-shire countryside can create many challenges, and with worldwide TV coverage of the event, it is essential to keep it clean, tidy and free of waste at all times. The preparations are now complete, and as usual, there’s a feeling of the calm before the storm when everything clicks into gear at 7:30am tomorrow morning as Englishman Lee Slattery gets the competition underway.
Much as it is extremely hard work, it is an event we enjoy, our teams are experienced in managing the cleaning and waste management at golf events like the Scottish Open and the Ryder Cup, we get to meet some great people, many are old friends in the golf industry. So, whilst it’s a long and tiring week, it is one we enjoy, especially when it gets into full swing.
