Much of the media talk this week is about the eagerly anticipated festival extravaganza at Glastonbury, but that’s not the only location in the UK enjoying a wide variety of world-class acts over the next few days. In Scotland, we’re enjoying a period of festivals and concerts featuring some of the biggest stars on the planet, and Spectrum is pleased to be supporting many of them. It’s keeping our events teams busy, but these are the type of events they enjoy and look forward to.
It started last week when the Foo Fighters came to Hampden Park and put on a memorable concert for thousands of fans. Then, on Tuesday night, we switched venues to support our long-standing clients DF Concerts, who brought Green Day to Bellahouston Park. Again, thousands of fans enjoyed a truly fantastic concert as the band wowed the audience with a string of numbers from their incredibly successful albums.
On Sunday, it was yet another venue, this time Kelvingrove Park where we provided cleaning and litter-picking services at the highly popular Glasgow Mela, Scotland’s biggest multicultural event covering music, dance food, crafts and arts. So, it’s been a busy time for our events team, but it’s getting even busier over the next few days.

Tonight and tomorrow, we are back at Hampden Park for the sellout Pink concerts. Thousands of fans will be there tonight, and then we start the clean-up operation to prepare the stadium for Saturday night’s concert. We’ve supported many concerts at Hampden, so it’s not new to us. In fact, supporting Pink at Hampden is not new to us either. Our team remembers fondly the fantastic concerts she performed back in 2019, and we are certain this weekend’s concerts won’t fail to impress.
But Hampden is not the only concert our events team will be working at this weekend. We are also working with our colleagues at DF Concerts at the Stirling Sessions at Stirling City Park. They have pulled together an impressive line-up of stars such as James Arthur (27th June), Busted (28th June), Tom Jones (29th June), and Shiana Twain (3rd July), fresh from headlining at Glastonbury.
So, you can see that it is a busy time for us, but with such an array of talent at these concerts, it’s not difficult to find willing team members, they work hard at the events, but they also get up close to the acts and the fans, so they can take in the atmosphere and the performances while keeping the venues clean and safe for the audiences.
