Sunday 5th June saw the second event in our sponsorship of The Kiltwalk 2016. This time we headed north for the Aberdeen Kiltwalk which took place in and around the beautiful setting of the Granite City. The weather also played its part, it was a gorgeous day to be out walking, especially if you were also raising money for children’s charities at the same time.
Spectrum is not only a sponsor of The Kiltwalk, we also provide the clean-up service making sure the whole route is left litter free, but it is a very enjoyable day when we get to engage with the walkers and encourage them as they proceed along the route.
There were three different starting points on the walk with entrants choosing the distance that best suited them. The full walk is a 26 mile route aptly named, “The Mighty Stride” starting at Duthie Park in Aberdeen, these hardy walkers are then joined by those electing for the 15.5 mile “Big Stroll” at Drumoak Playing Fields, then the final group settling for the 8 mile challenge, “The Wee Wander”, join the others at the King George V Park in Banchory.
The weather was very kind to everyone, which was just reward for the hundreds of people who gave up their time to raise funds for some of the most deserving children’s causes in Scotland, we applaud everyone who took part in the event and hope that we will see them all again next year.
The next leg of our Kiltwalk sponsorship takes us to Speyside on the 14th August, if you want to join any of the three routes that day you should enter now and help this great cause to raise even more for the children of Scotland, we’d love to see you there on the day.
