Double delight for Spectrum at the ROCCO Awards

The week ended with a flurry of activity, including games at Hampden Park and the provision of cleaning services at the Glasgow Christmas Light Switch On in George Square on Sunday. However, the most exciting event happened on Friday evening at an event we’ve been associated with for many years – The ROCCO Awards.

Yes, it’s that time of year already when the ROCCOs take place; it’s a well-established fixture in the business calendar, especially for those businesses that operate in Renfrewshire. The ROCCOs are highly-respected annual business awards hosted by the Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce. Once again, the best of Renfrewshire businesses got together at the glittering awards ceremony in the Normandy Hotel in Renfrew to celebrate local business achievements in the company of the evening’s host, Fred MacAulay.

This year, Spectrum’s involvement was two-fold; we were finalists and category sponsors for the ROCCO Award for Outstanding Performing Business (5 or fewer employees). Having started 20 years ago in our small Paisley office, we understand the challenges faced by small businesses and the benefits of being recognised with an award. So, we took the judging process very seriously, and we were inspired by the quality of each of the finalists. Unfortunately, there could only be one winner, and that accolade went to the specialist school uniform supplier, Aspire AcademyCongratulations to them, and we hope they prosper and grow in the years ahead.

Spectrum’s other involvement on the night was equally successful; we won our category and were named winners of the ROCCO Award for Outstanding Performing Business (Over 25 employees)!

I was eager to sponsor an award, particularly for growing businesses, and I really enjoyed being part of the judging process. Spectrum has been involved with the ROCCOs for years, so we know what it’s like to be on the other side of the judging table.

“Meeting the finalists was inspiring; we witnessed some great businesses doing great things. We were particularly impressed with Aspire Academy, and we’re confident they will go on to bigger and better things in the future; I’m already looking forward to tracking their progress.

“And the icing on the cake for us was to win the best-performing business award, especially in the year of our 20th Anniversary. I’m delighted for the whole team at Spectrum; they are the ones who make these nights possible.”

We want to thank the judges and Altrad Babcock, the award sponsors, for naming Spectrum as the winner. However, enormous thanks must go to the team at Spectrum; their commitment and dedication are what make the business successful and help us to win awards.

Finally, congratulations to all of the finalists; whether you picked up the trophy or not on Friday, you are all winners for reaching the final stage at these prestigious awards.
