All’s calm ahead of the biggest tournament in golf – The Open Championship

No sooner is Euro 2020 over than the start of another major event in the UK, the 149th Open Championship, and Spectrum is involved in this one too.

Like Euro 2020, the Open Championship at Royal St George’s in Kent is a year late. Still, we’re delighted to be here now and setting up to welcome players and spectators to watch what promises to be an exciting competition to lift the most coveted prize in golf, the Claret Jug and the title of Champion Golfer of the Year.

The Spectrum events team has been busy preparing for the arrival of the players who begin their practice rounds today over a very challenging golf course.

This year, Spectrum will provide an extensive range of services at Royal St George’s; daily, we will provide cleaning in the public villages, sponsor and partner’s structures, hospitality areas, and the areas set aside for players, contractors, officials and technical personnel.  In addition, we will be responsible for litter picking, the provision of hygiene services and products, and the replenishment of consumables.  This year, our services will also include Hydrogen Peroxide Fogging and COVID-19 Cleaning.

With a full complement of the world’s top golfers and 30,000+ spectators each day, we expect our team of 200+ staff per day will be kept busy throughout the week, and even after the winner lifts the coveted Claret Jug on Sunday afternoon.

Here are some pictures that we captured last weekend and early this morning; it is the calm before the proverbial storm, but we love the challenge of working at global events, and we are looking forward to the week ahead.
