We begin Q2 of 2025 with yet another contract win announcement, but we think this one is rather special! Followers of Spectrum’s blog and social channels will undoubtedly know about the recent transition of Rebecca Bell to Managing Director and her Mum and founder’s new role as Chair.

The changes happened around the turn of the year and maintained the status quo as an independent family-owned business. At the time, we wrote about the tradition and family values that we have developed in our twenty-two-year history and how Rebecca, as a second generation, was relishing the prospect of continuing the growth.

It’s all good stuff, and we stand by it 100%; however, our contract is for a second site in Scotland for a client that puts our history as a family-owned business into perspective in a way we can’t imagine many other companies could! We are exceptionally pleased and excited to announce the commencement of a new contract on the 1st of April with Merck, a 13th-generation family business! Yes, you’ve read it correctly; the company dates back to 1668.

Merck is a vibrant science and technology company that believes in science as a force for good. They uniquely combine three specialised, innovation-driven businesses: Life Science, Healthcare, and Electronics.

• In Life Science, they help deliver novel therapies to treat chronic disease and provide other solutions for a safer, more sustainable world.

• In Electronics, they provide the material-related solutions needed for their customer’s innovation to power the digital world of tomorrow.

Merck is undoubtedly the longest-established business in our client portfolio, and we look forward to working with them at their facility in Irvine. We will be providing a full range of services to them, which includes cleaning in office areas, clean rooms and warehouses. In addition, we are providing janitorial services and consumables.
