Two global golf events in July tee up a busy time for our events team

Two weeks ago, we were working at The Open Championship at Royal Portrush, and what a fantastic event it turned out to be. This week, it’s the turn of Women’s golf and another major championship. Our events team is at Royal Porthcawl in Wales for the AIG Women’s Open Championship.

The leading players in the women’s game are all here, and competition play is underway. We are delighted and honoured to be working again with the R&A at what is shaping up to be another great global sporting event.

We have been working hard on the preparations all week in all public, technical, players, hospitality and press areas to make sure everything is clean and safe for what is expected to be large crowds over the four days of competition. With lots to do for everyone in the packed fan village, we also expect it to be very much a family affair. The R&A’s ‘Golf It’ programme has a significant presence, providing golf fans, young and old, with opportunities to participate in many golf-related fun activities.

While the primary focus this week is on the AIG Women’s Open, we are still working hard at Royal Portrush. There’s a tendency to think that the Open finishes when the winner raises the famous Claret Jug just as Scottie Scheffler did just over a week ago, but our work goes on long after the crowds have dispersed. In fact, we will be on site until the 22nd of August, working on the post-event breakdown.

Speaking about the two championships, Spectrum’s Managing Director, Rebecca Bell, said: “I’m delighted with the way the team performed at Royal Portrush. We’ve had excellent feedback from people who were there and appreciated all the hard work and long hours we worked throughout the practice and competition days.

“We still have members of the team there working on the breakdown, but our main focus this week is on the AIG Women’s Open, which also looks like being an excellent event.

“It’s a pleasure and a privilege to work closely with the R&A in the planning and running of these two truly global events. It’s hard work for everyone, with long hours, especially when competition gets underway. However, the Spectrum events team thrive under pressure and everyone is delighted to be part of these highly respected and well-attended events.”

If you are interested in attending Royal Porthcawl, there are still tickets available. You can get the details and availability at the website for the AIG Women’s Open here
