Our event teams march on during a busy Glasgow events cycle

This summer, Glasgow has been a busy place. On the 25th of June, Glasgow Mela, Scotland’s biggest free multicultural festival, returned to Kelvingrove Park. It was an incredible spectacle of music, dance and mouth-watering food from around the globe. No sooner had we completed our work at Glasgow Mela when the UCI Cycling Championships came around, thirteen days of top-class competition in almost every cycling discipline. Then, another global event marched into town – The World Pipe Band Championships.

The highly-popular event was at Glasgow Green on the 18th and 19th of August. It’s now a regular feature in the Glasgow event calendar; the city first hosted the event in 1948, but it has been its regular annual host since 1986.

This year, musicians from 15 countries and 190 pipe bands participated in a colourful, friendly event celebrating Scottish culture.

Picture of Rebecca BellSpectrum provided cleaning services throughout the event in all public, competitor and official areas. Speaking about the championships, Spectrum’s Operations Director, Rebecca Bell, said: “We’re thrilled to have supported Glasgow Life at the Championships this weekend, Glasgow certainly has been the centre of attention over the last couple of weeks, and we’ve been pleased to be part of both.

“The World Pipe Band Championships is a well-established event; our team enjoyed the fun atmosphere and, of course, the sound of the pipes!”
