On Friday, we reported Helen Love’s success at The Herald Family Business Awards when she picked up a well-deserved Special Recognition award. Still, she wasn’t the only winner on the night. We are excited to announce that our Operations Director, Rebecca Bell, has also picked up one of the sought-after awards – The Next Generation Award.
The Herald Family Business Next Generation Award is presented to an individual who plays a pivotal role in shaping and securing the future of their family business for the next generation. The award highlights an individual who has demonstrated commitment to and understanding of their family business and the successful future of that enterprise.
Indeed, hearing what the judges had to say about Rebecca, she is a worthy winner; here’s what Host Bryan Burnett noted when he announced Rebecca’s win: “The Judges acknowledged that Rebecca Bell presented an outstanding submission setting out the excellent progress being made in the transition from G1 to G2 leadership – with clear evidence of the impact that Rebecca is making in her own right.
“As Operations Director, her role in managing the group people is key to their continued growth and success achieved to date. Over 13 years, she has worked her way through the business and is in excellent stead to take over as Managing Director when required.”
Speaking about her daughter’s success, Spectrum’s Managing Director, Sara Speirs, said: “It’s been a pleasure watching Rebecca’s progress since she joined the business 15 years ago. She was keen to learn every aspect of the company from the very first day when she started as a cleaner whilst attending University.
“I’m thrilled with the win at the awards; it is recognition for the hard work she has put in and her willingness to learn about the business from the ground up. I feel the future of the business is in excellent hands, and this award is simply an acknowledgement of her achievements so far.”
Rebecca was equally thrilled when she said: “It’s so exciting to be named as a winner at the awards tonight, especially in the Next Generation category. My Mum has played an integral part in my development, and she has built a business that I’m proud to work with. If I can achieve just a little of what she has, I’ll be absolutely delighted.
“I’d also like to share this win with the team at Spectrum; although I’m the one named as the winner, it’s in no small way down to the efforts of everyone in the company, so this win is for them too.”
